James Shikada - Writer / Editor

I'm a 35 year old half British Japanese Screenwriter and Climate Activist based in Tokyo Japan with a decade of dedication to climate research and education.
In 2008 I attended the Sheffield International Doc/Fest to gather support for the 'Return Project' - an ambitious climate film proposal filled with factual delivery strategy.  There I learned from inside sources that our top factual TV networks had made a policy decision to no longer report on the alarming facts of climate change.  With the failures of not only our mainstream media but our top factual broadcasters, the job of truth-telling was now solely in the hands of the activist.
In late 2011 I released 'Science Vs. Denial: The Truth About Climate Education' - a 40 minute zero-budget film exposé on the failures of mass media on climate.  Designed to impact the attitudes of media professionals, it was noticed by the Editor in Chief of Above Live - Nicholas Rachline.  For a number of months, my Q&A article showcasing 'Science Vs. Denial' was published directly adjacent to Above Live's articles on Richard Branson and Microsoft Co-Founder Paul Allen.
A video endorsement of the Return Project by one of my strongest supporters, Nalaka Gunawardene - veteran Science Writer and Lead Researcher to the late Sir Arthur C. Clarke, Sci-fi Author and Inventor of the Communications Satellite:
